Cosy Sober Bedtimes – A Winter Routine to Soothe & Nourish
Cosy sober bedtimes are one of the magical things you get to experience when you quit drinking and are so far removed from night time drinking chaos, it is literally like night and day different. Have you ever woken up at 3 am full of shame and regret about last night’s drinking? Wishing it could be different? Dreaming of better bedtimes?
I know I have.

When my kids were babies, we had a bedtime routine of ‘bath, bottle and bed’
I loved this routine because I was happy and content in the knowledge that everyone was safe at home in their beds – warm, loved, fed, clean and cared for.
However when I was drinking I managed to stray as far from my values around bedtime as was possible for me.
The source of my pain, shame and guilt over my drinking is because of bedtimes which should have been special and loving and magical but instead were chaotic, rushed, and sometimes something I have no recollection of at all.
Did I read the story?
Did I tuck them in?
Do they know I love them?
I do have vague memories of partying until the wee hours at home with Nico in my bed as a baby, with no idea of how he got there.
I also have memories of being kissed goodnight by one of my boys as I passed out in my bed after too much afternoon drinking.
I still struggle to come to terms with this because this is not me, not me at all.
How could I have behaved this way?
This podcast episode is a story about cosy sober bedtimes, how to get them and how mine have changed dramatically since I quit drinking. How I went from evening chaos and passing out on the sofa to feeling pure relaxation and contentment instead. Learn how a soothing and nourishing evening and bedtime ritual can support your sobriety, provide the best sleep and help you start the day feeling calm and rested.
